Shopping at La Manga Club

Although not blessed with an abundance of retail opportunities, there are still plenty of shops available around the complex in which to spend your money.

There are five main areas at La Manga Club where you will find shops, and we have indicated where you will find each outlet.

The five areas are:
  • Hyatt Hotel
  • Las Sabinas
  • La Plaza
  • Bellaluz
  • Atamaria Plaza

In addition, there is a small mini-market located at Las Lomas overlooking the North Golf Course.

    Bakery

There is a German bakery located in Las Sabinas offering a great selection of cakes and breads.

    Banks

There are a number of banks located around La Manga Club, most of which have cash dispensers. The banks tend to be clustered in Las Sabinas, Bellaluz and La Plaza.

    Chemist

There is a chemist located in Bellaluz.

    Fashion

A number of shops located at La Manga Club stock international designer labels. These can be found in Bellaluz, in and near La Plaza and at the Hyatt Hotel.

    Fashion Accessories and Shoes

Serendipity in Bellaluz has an interesting range of Spanish shoes, bags and accessories at good prices. They also stock a selection of leather goods, belts, wallets etc, and offer something slightly different to the other retail outlets at La Manga Club.

    Gift Shops

A number of gift shops selling a variety of items are dotted around the complex. The most notable are the two Serendipity shops, one located in Bellaluz, the other at La Plaza. The shop in Bellaluz specialises in shoes and handbags (see above). There are a number of other gift shops located in Bellaluz, and Las Sabinas.

    Hairdresser

Located in the foyer area of the Hyatt Hotel.

    Interior Design and Furniture

Serendipity at La Plaza is the longest established and most reputable interior design shop at La Manga Club. As well as furnishing many of the properties at LMC, it also has a great selection of knick-knacks and ornamental items which are well worth discovering.

    Jewellery

There is a rather pricey jewellers located in the foyer of the Hyatt Hotel.

    Newsagents

Although there are no newsagents at La Manga Club, English newspapers can be purchased from Bellaluz supermarket, The Petrol Station and the Hyatt Hotel usually from late morning on the day of publication.

    Petrol

There is a petrol station located opposite La Plaza. In addition to petrol, it also sells groceries, newspapers and maps of the region.

    Property Sales

It is not unknown for people to come on holiday to La Manga Club, fall in love with the place, and want to buy a villa or apartment. There are a number of property sales agents dotted around La Manga Club, many of them selling the same properties. They also feature homes located off complex.

    Sportswear

There are a number of outlets located around La Manga Club that sell sporting equipment and sportswear. One is located in the foyer of the hotel, whilst another canbe found at the tennis centre.

    Supermarkets

There are two main supermarkets at La Manga Club, El Arbol, located in Las Sabinas, and also another located in Bellaluz Square. Both are relatively well stocked with local and international food brands and are open seven days a week during the Summer.
In addition, there is a petrol station at La Plaza that also sells food essentials such as bread, milk, water, beer and chocolate, as well as a number of other food items. Finally, the Deli-Café at Las Lomas also sells groceries, and has a great cake counter.

    Shops in surrounding area

    Department Stores

There is only one chain of Department Stores in Spain, El Corte Ingles. Corte Ingles offers a superb range of items, including designer clothes labels, household goods and every other conceivable item. There is a large El Corte Ingles in Murcia, and another branch, one of the largest in Spain, is due to open in nearby Cartagena shortly.

    Fashion

Spain is renowned for its clothes and shoes, and several fashion labels have emerged in recent years. Two of Spain’s leading fashion chains, Zara and Mango, both of which have branches throughout the UK, are located in Cartagena and Murcia. Another name to look out for is Springfield which has a branch in Murcia, and represents good value for money.

    Supermarkets

All local towns and villages near La Manga Club have supermarkets, and they offer a range of international and local produce. They are usually well stocked (certainly better than those at La Manga Club), but do not have the range of goods you would find in supermarkets in the UK. The pick of the bunch locally are:

    Celestino (Los Belones)

It never ceases to amaze us how much stock is crammed into such a small space. Celestino, which is located in the central plaza in Los Belones has a very good meat and cheese counter, as well as stocking a range of other goods.

    Mercadona (La Manga)

One of the largest supermarket chains in Spain, and well stocked with local and international produce.

    Upper (Cala Flores, La Manga)

Another of Spain’s leading Supermarket chains with an extensive range of fresh produce and branded international goods. Located about 6 miles from La Manga Club, and worth visiting for its fish and meat counters.

    Carrefour, (Cartagena)

A massive hypermarket located at the end of the motorway into Cartagena, approximately 27 kilometres from La Manga Club. Although that seems a long way to go to stock up on your fruit and veg, it is probably worth doing it once during your stay, as the choice is phenomenal.

    Furniture and Accessories

There are a number of furniture stores and shops selling decorative items for the home in the villages surrounding La Manga Club. One of the most reputable is Serendipity in Los Belones. The store, located in the centre of the village, has a fascinating range of Spanish made goods, including a varied selection of light fittings, picture frames, artificial flowers and candles. It also stocks a selection of larger items including tables, chairs and bedroom furniture, to name but a few of the pieces of furniture it has in stock.

    Local Markets

Many of the towns and villages close to La Manga Club have weekly markets and these offer an ideal opportunity to sample the fresh fruit and vegetables for which the Murcia region is famous. Many of the markets also have a great selection of leather goods as well as passable imitations of some of the world’s most famous luxury items.
However, please be careful when visiting the markets, as they also attract pickpockets. Remember to be vigilant, and make sure that all valuables are kept out of sight in a safe and secure place.
Most markets operate between 9am and 1.30pm, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to make the most of what is on offer. All the markets listed below are within an hour’s drive from La Manga Club.
